Good stuff man. ;)

I like the arrangement and a drums a lot. The guitar synth really takes too much precedence in the song though. Probably turn down the melodies and countermelodies. With that, I think the countermelodies are clashing to much, in my opinion, it'd sound a lot better if you put each of them (I hear three melodies, but here might only be two >_>) in their own place, i.e one to the stereo left and more in the middle of the freq spectrum with some reverb with about 50% dry or something (just to make it more subtle than the 'dominate' one), and your dominant one to the stereo right a little and let tha dominate a lot more.

Two melodies is just what I hear, but I might just be tired. ;_;

Anyway, good to hear something new from you. ;)

nubbinownz responds:

hehe funny thing actually , there are 2 main melodies, and both of them are panned to the left and the right. The first guitar is panned to the left, the second is panned to the right, and the 8bit melody is centered with reverb/ delay on it lol. Maybe I'll try to widen them up a bit

Thank you

For uploading the instrumental. :)

Reachground responds:

No problem :)

@ FatKid

There's only 12 endings. :P 13 if you take account in that you can complete 'The Dream Project' two different ways.

Anyway, I love this man! It could a use a little more energy on the low-end. But other than that, I really really enjoyed it. Keep it up man!

I hear ya'. Once I get composing again I am planning on going back through the Chrono Trigger Themes...until then ^^.

Thanks for the review :)

bass

is fucking epic

See2theDee responds:

Thanks!
It makes me sad that I might never be able to create a song this good ever again :(

Unfinished sound...

This, in a nutshell, is a premade loop in FL with some phasering thrown on it, and a couple of preset synths played in order of the original music, with boo bass.

It's not very original (yes, game remixes do need originality). Add a little more spunk to it, EQ things, mess with synths, make your own sounds, add more of an underbelly (pads and subbass). Use your own drum samples, cut things up. Make it your own, be creative! :P

It's not bad, I'm just saying, production should be more than just throwing some synths together. Make it fun man! And keep producin'!

DreamEater responds:

i admit being one of my older songs it is lacking in alot of useful effects
however
just because a preset loop is used
doesn't mean it doesn't sound bad ass
i noticed that you used some preset loops in you music 2 and no one docked you
so why is it that you feel you should dock me? =/
it is also just a revamped version
so dont go crazy.
thanks for reviewing

Great song!

It's composition is flawless really. The only thing I dislike really, is that everything seems to be sidechained to the kick, and it kinda makes it sound more... off beat, or hectic or something...

I tend to dislike that feel, but perhaps you did it on purpose? You're the composer. ;)

Keep producin' man!

cornandbeans responds:

Yeah, I didn't think that many people would catch that XD

I would have fixed it up if I didn't have to go back and export and then re-master...

So yea, I dislike it too :P

I love it!

And apparently the dude below me has not played Chrono Cross. What a shame.

Great job man!

kelwynshade responds:

I appreciate it. Glad you liked it!

I agree with jnry3

Sick as hell song, as always. Your piano melodies always seem to be extremely touching, haha.

But jnry3 is right; there really isn't any sub-sonic frequencies to complete the fullness of this song, and your mid-high freq sounds are interfering with the low-end (btw, the Spectrum visualization acts like well.. a spectrum haha). The spectrum shows that the piano is acting in the low-freq range, when it should be around mid-high freq.

So yeah, it could use some simple EQing, but nothing that's TOO difficult to fix.

Nice job dude, this is an amazing track. A 5 for you. :P

nubbinownz responds:

<3 thank you man I'll see about hitting up the Equalizer a bit :)

Liking this a long.

Really epic first submission, haha.

At 1:25, it seems like the bass is starting to clip (remember not to let your mix go above 0 Db, take care of mastering the volume after the tune is mixed), and the and saw lead at like 2:08 becomes extremely loud and drowns the other sounds, but you seem to fix that a couple bars later. Weird, haha.

So yeah, it could use a little more EQing, but beside from that, really great job!

5/5

ericsenter responds:

I'm still a bit of a nub at FL, and Ill go ahead and change those things. Thank you very much for the advice. =D
